The course is given on an annual basis, registration link expires well in advance. The course is given in collaboration between ITN and the Library and is aimed at doctoral students in their first years.

Learning outcomes

After the course, the students should be able to:

  • know what publications are available and how to judge their quality
  • know how to continuously follow the development within their research area

Examination

Presence at lecture and seminar. Hand in. The hand in requires that the PhD students with support from supervisors apply the general search methods within their own area and summarizes this into a report. The report should be 4-6 pages and describe what search tools and keywords have been used, a summary of the publication landscape within their own area and what alerts have been set up and the yield of these alerts.

It should also present reflections on the course book.

Students shall also give feedback on peer´s report during the seminar. This feedback is to be sent in writing to Kerstin and Magdalena before the seminar.
